Windows Embedded CE Features (Windows Embedded CE 6.0)

1/6/2010

Windows Embedded CE offers a rich set of features that you can use to customize a platform. Component services, networking capabilities, multimedia support, and many other capabilities are contained within individual operating system features.

You can choose from a wide range of operating system features through the catalog items in Platform Builder. You can build a customized operating system design from a combination of these catalog items. Some catalog items require that other catalog items be present in your operating system design. Platform Builder automatically determines dependencies and adds the appropriate supporting catalog items to your operating system design.

  • Applications and Services
Describes the operating system functionality that is available in Windows Embedded CE for developing applications and services.
  • Audio
    Describes waveform audio functionality.

Provides information about finding information on how to order hardware platforms for the sample BSPs.
  • Developing a Device Driver
Provides an overview of Windows Embedded CE drivers and describes the typical processes used for developing device drivers for a Windows Embedded CE-based device.
  • Developing an OS Design
Describes how to use Platform Builder to create and customize an operating system design that you can use to build a run-time image for download to a target device. Includes information about creating software development kits.
  • Developing a Target Device
Describes how to use a design template to create an operating system design that you can customize for your target device.
  • Error Reporting
Describes Windows Embedded CE error reporting, which allows a device to save key information about the state of the machine at the time that the machine or an application becomes unresponsive or stops functioning.
