Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) is a tool designed to automate database migration to SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance and Azure Synapse Analytics from Microsoft Access, Db2, MySQL, Oracle, and SAP ASE.

The following target versions are supported for SSMA.

  • SQL Server 2012 (11.x)
  • SQL Server 2014 (12.x)
  • SQL Server 2016 (13.x)
  • SQL Server 2017 (14.x) on Windows and Linux
  • SQL Server 2019 (15.x) on Windows and Linux
  • SQL Server 2022 (16.x) on Windows and Linux
  • Azure SQL Database
  • Azure SQL Managed Instance
  • Azure Synapse Analytics 1

1 This target is supported only by SSMA for Oracle.
